This week’s discussion point from me is about paddle lessons. Many of us learn to paddle in many different ways and through various mediums from a one-off paddlesport centre session or school experience to joining a local paddle club, or from time spent paddling picking up tips and tricks with friends and family through to reading magazines and watching online instructional videos.

But, let’s flip this on its head – what has paddling taught YOU? Maybe you’ve learned that you really don’t drink enough water or that your fitness isn’t quite where you thought it was. Perhaps you’ve learned to slow down and really take notice of things around you, really appreciating your surroundings and time spent in nature. Maybe you’ve learned that it’s the only way you can have some ‘me time’ away from the kids or the chance to leave your work stresses behind – if only just for a little while.From the little things to the big things, from the norm to the random or from a silent mind of clarity to occasions of complex, deep thinking – what has paddling taught you?
